Back in the Races

A couple of weeks ago, Kent decided that he wanted to race in the Lawnmower Races that East End Fire Department puts on every year.  He mentioned it that Monday at fire meeting.  Years ago, West End used to race every year and did pretty well.  Richie Hilterbrand, who was assistant chief for years on West End, is always up for this kind of stuff and since he had found a mower awhile back, he was on board.  The last couple of weekends, we have went over to Richie and Bubba's house after work and messed with the mower. 

I have to say, I really enjoy going and being a part of it although I'm not the kind of mechanical help they are!  Richie has done most all of the mechanical work himself and had it running good.  We painted it fire engine red and Randy Sutton ordered some nice decals for it.

With such little time before the race on August 1st, they couldn't do a lot of the things they wanted to.  I think everyone is just glad to be back in the races!
